Kastellet may be a pretty place for a Sunday walk in the fall, but it clearly was meant for defense. It held its ground against the Swedes in 1658 but fell against the English in 1807 and the Germans in 1940.

It feel very peaceful. It’s been 200 years since Kastellet saw bloodshed. I think perhaps all the people through those centuries taking their strolls in the beautiful surroundings (right by the water too) have cleared it.
