Point Reyes Station is a tiny town on the way to Point Reyes – a vast natural area leading out to the Pacific. Personally my family find the actual Point Reyes boring. You drive for over an hour and see only cattle and flat landscape. Finally you reach the sea shore – and then you turn around and drive all the way back. We do like Point Reyes Station a lot, though, and try to go there once a year for lunch.
The main street seems like a time portal going far back. The image above is from the oldest garage in te US. Not all the houses are pretty but many of them have a lot of character and I think a fine balance has been found between being a sort of touristy stop and old time USA.
