Once Amager Beach was a slim rim of sand and mostly grass coupled with extremely low water. Then the beach park was built, adding miles and miles to what was already there in the form of a new beach line much further out with lots and lots of sand, lagoons up to the original coast line and bridges to walk or drive to get to the new beach line.
But the two neighboring counties could not agree so what was created on the Copenhagen side was a lot more spectacular than what happened on the Kastrup side. This particular construction is pretty spectacular, though. It’s called The Snail and is a bath platform where people can lie in the sun and dive into the deep end rather than have to walk far in the shallow water and not be able to dive.
