I think I mentioned it at the beginning of the Helsinki posts… We found Helsinki pretty boring. One day to check out the area around the harbor and cathedral would have been enough for us. Not that we regret going. How else would we have taken the time to look into the history of Helsinki to discover it was mainly a small trading post until the 19. century?
Helsinki is on the Baltic Sea which means it connects to both Russia. Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia. There are cruise ships to all destinations but Tallinn can be reached in a mere 1.5 hour by hover craft. There were also regular ferries but they took three hours each way so we took the hover craft for a day trip to the capital of Estonia.
As we were getting close to Tallinn, I was fascinated with the structures sticking out of the water.
