I will return with some navel shots from Fisherman’s Wharf but for right now I present to you – a tower 🙂 Namely of the ferry building that for years was hidden behind an ugly freeway that the 1989 earth quake took care. Says a lot for the people of San Francisco they decided to not rebuild it.

Fisherman’s Wharf is known for all the touristy stuff – souvenir shops, tours of the Bay, aquarium, fleece jackets to try to keep warm, more ‘I lost my heart in SF’ souvenirs, etc. But would you believe that the image above is also from Fisherman’s Wharf. Go beyond the obvious side walks and wander down the piers to see much more than you thought was here. This is an old war ship tied up mere steps from the souvenir shops. Right next to it is a WW2 submarine that you can visit.
