I skulked into the area on Fisherman’s Wharf where I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to go. Not only are there plenty of derelict buildings of my favorite kind. There’s actual fishing going on. This is where I found the fish traps featured in one of the Landmark images (rerun below :-))
Fisherman’s Wharf 8 – SF 2013
Fisherman’s Wharf is known for all the touristy stuff – souvenir shops, tours of the Bay, aquarium, fleece jackets to try to keep warm, more ‘I lost my heart in SF’ souvenirs, etc. But would you believe that the image above is also from Fisherman’s Wharf. Go beyond the obvious side walks and wander down the piers to see much more than you thought was here. This is an old war ship tied up mere steps from the souvenir shops. Right next to it is a WW2 submarine that you can visit.
Sights of Rome
For once I’ll explain before showing images and for once I’ll share several images at once. It’s the second day of teleporting from San Francisco to Rome (and from summer to late fall). Below are some of the sights of Rome – or rather an expressionistic interpretation called, “I’m tired! I don’t want to walk anymore!”
The Palatine Hill, Forum Romano
Forum Romanum by temple of Julius Cesar
