As you drive across The Golden Gate Bridge you reconnect to firm ground on what’s called Marin Headlands or The Golden Gate National Recreational Area. It’s often foggy and chilly and quite stark but there are quite a few attractions if you know where to look.

San Francisco 2012
I apologize for this picture to be out of the chronological sequence I stick to. I only just looked through the major part of our vacation pictures from this summer, and I couldn’t resist this one. I didn’t even have my Nikon yet. This is shot with a CoolPix.
The location is out towards Point Bonita Lighthouse, a sight than in the 10 years of family vacation we had yet to see. The model is as always my strawberry blond daughter, Ida. I love her serious look. The reason is not that she is following instructions. She was just totally pissed at me for not allowing her to throw her gum by the path.
Fort Point, San Francisco, 2010
Image
Fort Point is placed at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge. The location is great but It is a cold and windy place, little sun and much moisture. I can’t imagine being stationed here. Walking around I suddenly looked through a hall way and was met with this series of doorways. There’s something about doorways.
Golden Gate Bridge, 2010
I live in Copenhagen, Denmark, but Marin – just north of the Golden Gate Bridge – is a very special place of mine. That’s why I have chosen a picture of the Golden Gate to open this blog. I love the symbolic way the bridge spans into the mist. We know we’re going somewhere though we can’t see the goal.
This picture as well as the next are from before I got the Nikon. They are shot with a small Sony digital camera.
