In 1982 the whole cable car system was taken apart and renovated. It might well have been abolished but was saved by the people of San Francisco – an expensive renovation though probably invaluable in terms of marketing.

Part of the charm of the cable cars of San Francisco is their patina – that’s a word we use here in Denmark to describe something that has been worn by age in a way that adds to the charm.

Lets start out with a traditional subject – the cable cars of San Francisco. Endlessly fascinating and you’ll have plenty of time to study them as you wait in line 🙂 An advantage of being jet lagged is that we had time to ride to Fisherman’s Wharf and back long before anyone else were finished with their hotel buffet breakfasts.
