Landmarks 1 – SF 2013

This year in San Francisco I had more time with my camera – though still running and shooting, trying to catch up with my family. But obvious shots of well-known sights are basically boring unless you have lots of time to work with light and angle and obviously I hadn’t. So I decided to play with a concept. This shot is the first in a series of seven of the landmark descreetly and unfocused in the background but still recognizable.

At least I’m pretty sure most people will recognize this SF landmark…

Cable cars 11 – SF 2013

Still waiting at Fisherman’s Wharf before riding back downtown on the Powel & Hyde Line. The two places are worlds apart and you seem to travel through yet a third world on the way. Hyde Street is a personal favorite of mine as I have friends living there – with a guest room! I recommend actually getting off the cable car and explore Hyde Street and Polk Street to experience where real people live. You won’t find much about this neighbourhood in the guide books though officially it’s part of Nob Hill. But there are lots of cafés, retaurants and cute shops – from a few blocks north of California and for about 10 blocks.
