I found on New Year’s Eve that for photographing fireworks it’s not always what you see that adds the most to the overall effect – sometimes the best effect is what is not illuminated.
Fireworks can appear so overwhelming when it all goes off at once at midnight on New Year’s Eve, making it almost as bright as daylight. Sometimes it easier to see the beauty in fragments.
In a way fireworks is very emotional. We react emotionally both to the beauty and sometimes the danger (at least in Denmark where you can fire your own).
