That’s how close we were to the cats! My daughter looks calm in the photo but I can assure you she was not. She squealed loudly every time the tiger prowled passed her.

Dublin Zoo 1, Ireland 2012
It sounds great, doesn’t it? Living in a zoo. All your needs catered for. No need to worry about tomorrow, Always provided with an appropriate partner. So why aren’t I happy?
I know I’m reading too much in the expression of this male tiger. I guess tigers can be pensive as well as fierce.
I’m usually not much of a zoo-fan. I know you are supposed to take your kids to the zoo, but I never quite figured out what the attraction is for the children, and mine will usually talk about the play ground rather than the animals. But we had booked room at the Ashling Hotel and the deal came with tickets for the zoo so why not.
The first exotic feature came at the gates. We were waiting in line with an all-boys class. My 8-year old daughter had the hardest time grasping the concept (nothing like it in Denmark), but I have a feeling she thought it was a pretty good idea. What are boys for anyway….
Ireland, here we come!
If you follow this blog, you’re about to embark on a trip to Ireland, more specifically to Dublin and Galway. I went there with my family during the fall break and though it was often a matter of point and shoot and hurry after the others, I did manage to bring back quite a collection of worthwhile pictures.
This is Heuston Station – All aboard!
Best friends forever
Sunset
Sunset, you’ve gotta have a sunset! My 11 year old son was shaking his head as I rambled in the car on the way back about not having my camera with me. Fortunately home and my camera bag was not far away and the house is three stories high. He was still shaking his head when I came back down with a happy smile.
Ørestad Syd
This sculpture stands to the building next to the 8 House in Ørestad. Driving towards it you see tall, modern buildings, but park the car and approach it from the other direction and it stands alone against the backdrop of the residential neightbourhood.
The rain began a few minutes after this shot and I ran in the cold wind back to the car with the camera covered by my jacket, being terrified that it would get wet. I’m still very careful about my camera 🙂
Something different
This link will take you to a YouTube video, playing “Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone” while showing a number of shots from my series Reflection – a beautiful surprise from Peter.
Stairs
I wish I could claim skill here, but the fact is I got lucky. Leaving Sankt Nikolaj Church behind I went to the art supply store on Strøget. It is on the second floor and as I walked back down I wondered what the stair looked like if I looked up. Oh my!
The combination of natural and artificial light just happened. I framed the shot, tweaked the buttons a bit to get more light than with auto focus and there you are…
