In December 2012 I visited London with my family. I posted the shots of Christmas lights at the end of last year but there is more to show. This is from the intimidating M&M house (house, not shop!) on Leicester Square. Colours – check! Low light – check!
Metallics
I like low light situations. Here I’ve matched brass candle holders with a saxophone and laque bowls with metallic surface.

Last year I posted shots of the Christmas lights in Copenhagen. They weren’t the only pictures I took that evening and now the time has come to show the rest of them.
The reason why people would ever consider sitting outside in the winter is that you can’t smoke inside.
Reflections, Copenhagen 2012
I’m a sucker for reflections. This was taken in December at my local café, Ingolfs Kaffebar on Amager. Cafés in Denmark are “hyggelige” – a Danish word without a proper translation, indicating something really nice, making you feel comfortable.
The Royal Café 15, Copenhagen 2013
As I was working my way around The Royal Café, the waiter came with a plate of smushis (the owner’s invention of combining ‘smørrebrød’ with sushi). “Where would you like them?” he asked. “Øhh?” I answered.
The explanation was that I was there to photograph so here were smushis ready to be photographed. I looked at them for a bit and saw the attention to the work and the amazing details. I tried for some makro shots at first, then had an idea. What about shooting portraits of them? Above is the first shot in the series that evolved. The rest are in my portfolio. I give you – The Class of 2013!
