Bryggergården is a whole complex of buildings. At first only bricks were produced here, then also beer. Now only the bar turned café is left plus several apartments. The place was completely renovated in 2008 and they have begun to offer parts of it for reasonable rent to creative projects. I hope they succeed.
My postings have been a bit inconsistant. I apologize – mostly to myself, I guess. You see the reason above. Two weeks ago we aquired two guinea pigs. They are the most adorable, cudly little creatures, and we tend to bring them out even when the children are asleep. And there’s just so much typing you can do while petting a guinea pig so I’ve fallen quite behind.
This preserved complex, originally from 1749, lies at the end of Amager Beach past the marina and the new aquarium, The Blue Planet. Since 1838 it has housed a bar, now a café. And it’s just a stone’s throw from Copenhagen Airport.
I’ve shown images from Amager Beach before. This, in a way, is from the same area – built in 1749. More tomorrow…
“Pull up a chair”
While I won’t be hanging on the wall in the upcoming exhibition at PhotoPlace Gallery, Middlebury, Vermont, “Transformations – The Ordinary Made Extraordinary”, I did make it to the on-line annex and the catalogue with the above image from my series Invisible.
API is short for Art Photo Index. It is a “searchable, visual database of selected photographers and photo-based artists from throughout the world.” I am honored to have been invited to join, especially when I view the work of the amazingly talented artists represented. If you have time to kill, it won’t be wasted browsing websites found at API.
The last image from Amagerbrogade 132 this time around. I’ll be back with images from the rebuilding – still daring myself to find the less than obvious.
One of the challenges I gave myself when I began this project of following the building was to keep making shots I found interesting. It got increasingly difficult as there was less and less left. But here’s yet another image.
Another look at what was originally the inside of the building.
Ahh, I found a soul mate for the single nail posted in the spring. This is what comes of being a Highly Sensitive Person. You see the tiny details whether you want it or not, but with a camera in hand it’s fun.
I love how the old facade was exposed when they tore down the latest store signs.
