The 8 House 4, Copenhagen 2014

From the top of the 8 House…

The original idea was to copy a mountain village with a walk way running for about 1 km. winding up and down and in and out. Reality is tourists arriving by the bus loads and walk even in on people’s front patio to peak and take pictures. More on what happens to the clean lines when subjected to reality later.

The 8 House – 9, 2012

In a country with no mountains or hardly even hills the objective of The 8 House – to build a mountain village – really stands out. In the background is the unrestircted view of the preserved area Vestamager.

One of the features of The 8 House is the pathway that runs up and down the complex for almost 1 mile. Lately I’ve noticed that two of the entrance points to the pathway have been labelled ‘Private’ though I know that was not the original idea. It is possible to enter from the other end of the complex without being met by that sign.

8-Tallet 3, 2012

The 8 Number lies at the Southern most end of Ørestaden – a new city district being built on Amager, a few kilometers from the center of Copenhagen. The complex overlooks Vestamager – a nature reserve. What you see in the picture is the café and the view of Vestamager. A row of artifical lakes have been established at the edge of Ørestaden.

Bonusinfo: In the summer cows from other parts of Denmark spend the summer on Vestamager to keep the grass down.
