I discovered this image by happy coincidence. Remember the previous one I posted (seen below)? As I was editing it, I zoomed in to 100% and found this on my screen. While I think the first was a good image, I like this one a whole lot better. This is also the first time my full frame camera really comes to the test. I haven’t cropped anything this much before.
This was our last stop on the short trip my photog friend and I took on Dec. 25. I’ll be using the same image tomorrow with a variation.
I’m sure this can look very inviting in the summer…
I often find it hard to make pictures in the winter because of the lack of light and the often grey sky. Sometimes it works out well, though.
My photog friend and I drove on after visiting Man at Sea, stopping at all pull overs. There was something special about the sea and the light that was hardly even there.
Before heading back to the car in the cold December wind, I realized I hadn’t covered this angle of the huge sculpture before.
This image is almost identical to the previous one, only without the person. Two different moods to it. Pick your favorite…
As you can probably see it was both cold and windy on Dec. 25. this Christmas. It was great to get out of grandma’s house for a bit though and snap away. Even if our fingers felt more like popsicles at the end.
I used another preset from Perfect Effects on this one. I really like the look – a lot different from what I would have achieved on my own so far. Still reading up on B&W conversions… The original is below.
It’s said that fog thins the veil between dimensions. I don’t know… But I can tell you what happened on the morning of this enchanting fog sprinkled with frost.
As I was happily snapping away, I was approached by a man along with his pal and his dog. They were on their way for a dip in the sea but the man stopped when he saw me and asked how I managed to focus in the fog. We talked for a while about photography. He told me how he had volunteered for a local newspaper to learn more and try new things. I asked, only half in jest, if he ever needed an assistant. “Why don’t you just volunteer yourself?” he asked.
Within an hour I had written an email to the monthly magazine and I have been shooting for them since February. They are the reason I got press accreditation to the Eurovision Song Contest and trips like the one to Peberholmen. I’m having a grand time shooting assignments rather than always having to rely on my own inspiration and I’m learning a lot, including about being able to do more than I thought. I also get to work with other people and get to share my images in print.
All in all, I am very grateful to the man I happened to talk to that morning in the fog. The only thing is, I never got his name. ‘My’ editor thought it was the other photographer on the magazine but it wasn’t. In fact none of the information I had matched anyone he and the other photographer knew. I guess the important part is I followed an idea and wound up in the right place.
