Fancy lounging on a sun bed? There’s even a cruise ship in the background.

Halvandet 1, Copenhagen 2012
When I visited Halvandet a day in August the rain was pouring down as I drove there and I had to wait in the car for the rain to stop. The wind was fierce and this being an outdoor bar there were no customers there. A couple of days later, when the weather had cleared and the place was filled with people lounging in the sun, I returned – but the pictures I took on the windy and cloudy day were so much more interesting.
Men at Sea II
Men at Sea
Esbjerg on the west coast of Denmark hosts this amazing work of art – Mennesket ved havet or, in English, Men at Sea.
Determined to at least attempt to create a photograph to do them justice, I was disappointed to see the cloud cover on my way there. I didn’t know then that the sun would break through the clouds, high lighting the statues from the side. And how could I guess that a visitor would turn up in a yellow trench coat.
Esbjerg Habour
If you get in the car in Copenhagen and drive West for about three hours you arrive in Esbjerg at the other end of the country. And of course I brought my camera.
I decided to post this picture from the habour. This is the work place of real fishermen, working the North Sea. As with everything else in the habour these containers sure ain’t pretty, but I am attracted to the summetry and the subtle variation of colour.
Café Tranquebar, Copenhagen 2 – 2012
Allow me to post a second photo from my favorite coffee place in Copenhagen, keeping the hats company.
Coffee Factory, Copenhagen – 2012
After I had photographed the roof tops and pondered on roses and bars, it was time for a break. The open door and the black framing caught my eye – as did the way the mirror image showed something different than what I could see from my bar stool.
Grønnegade, Copenhagen – 2012
On my way from photographing roof tops I came across this unintentional installation. First of all, I love the colours – the pink, green, and dark blue. Secondly my mind was challenged by the presence of bars. Seeing only this section, on what side of the bars are the roses – and thus us? Why are there bars? What are they keeping in – or out?
