And bourgonvilla with bourgonvilla… 🙂 I love the vibrant colour of this plant. I’ll never forget when I came to Spain for the first time at age 9 and saw the abundance of what was in Denmark only a small, potted plant.
Okay, this time the landmark is so obscure you can’t even see it – the Bay Bridge. But the bourgonvilla is amazing…
This summer I was privilliged to visit a house in San Rafael with an amazing garden and an amazing view of the San Francisco Bay. Of course I brought my camera 🙂

I saved my own favorite of the San Rafael Mission for last. Notice the line of the three crosses.
Only 100 meters from this quiet, pink serenity The Farmers Market was going on as on every Thursday through the summer. All of 4’th Street was crowded with stalls selling goods, food and produce. People were talking, bands were playing, the local tap dance group was dancing – some contrast!
This reminds me so much of my summer vacations in Spain, but we are still in San Rafael, CA.

It was never intended to be a stand-alone mission, but nevertheless grew and was granted full mission status on October 19, 1822.
This picture is the first in a series of seven pictures of the mission San Rafael in the town of the same name in Marin County. There is a magic in the pink glow at sundown that I have tried to capture. The mission is set apart from the modern town surrounding it by its design and atmosphere.
