Repetitions 2, 2012

It seems that Tiffany lamps are back in style – or perhaps they never left. Even as an adult I love the coloured glass lamps for the same reasons that I love stained glass windows.

These lamps were a resent addition to what you can buy at Café Tranquebar besides coffee and books. If the background looks dark it is with good reason. The whole room is black, ceiling and floor included. I would never have guessed it but it actually make the large room feel warm and cosy.

Grønnegade, Copenhagen – 2012

On my way from photographing roof tops I came across this unintentional installation. First of all, I love the colours – the pink, green, and dark blue. Secondly my mind was challenged by the presence of bars. Seeing only this section, on what side of the bars are the roses – and thus us? Why are there bars? What are they keeping in – or out?

Roof tops 1, Copenhagen – 2012

In Copenhagen we have a Post (mail) and Tele Museum. I haven’t actually seen the museum, but they have a café/restaurant on the top floor with a large deck and a view of the roof tops and towers of Copenhagen.

I suddenly remembered that one morning when I was contemplating where to go photographing that day. I believe anyone would be welcome, but my friend who waits tables there did ask me to come between 10-11 or 3-4 p.m. as it is really busy for lunch.

Above is the first of three pictures. I chose to post this because of the way the red roof tops weave in and out.

Café Tranquebar, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2012

I aim to post pictures chronologically, and I’m not done with the pictures I took in the US. But I was suddenly left without my stash of pictures when it was time to post today. I picked this row of hats from Café Tranquebar in Borgergade in Copenhagen. It is one of my favorite places in the city – a combined book store, record store, fairtrade shop, and café. The hats were sitting at the top of a bookshelf in the black room, lit only by spotlights. My camera captured the magic of them in first try while still in auto mode.
